Ram’s mom reveals money problems on Facebook

Genelyn Magsaysay’s Facebook posts may hold a clue to the motive behind the killing of her son, Ram Revilla, and the involvement of her other children, Ramona and RJ, in their brother’s murder.

Parañaque police chief Senior Superintendent Billy Beltran said Genelyn’s posts on her financial problems may be “material” to the case.

Ramona and RJ have been charged with the murder of Ram and frustrated murder of Ram’s girlfriend, Janelle Manahan, who was shot in the face but survived.

On October 21, seven days before Ram was killed, Genelyn wrote on Facebook about the financial difficulties she was experiencing. She said that she needed to find work so that she won’t be called a “parasite.”

“before i met him im working already, now they are telling me im a parasite when the allowance that you are giving is not enough for monthly consumption,” she wrote as her status update.

2.3 million-peso credit card debt

Ram Revilla reportedy told his father, former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr., of his mother’s credit card debt amounting to P2.3 million, according to the police source of “TV Patrol.”

Told that credit card companies have been running after Genelyn, the former senator was said to be angry, according to the report of Anthony Taberna in TV Patrol. Ramon Sr. paid Genelyn’s debts and issued checks on October 18 and 25.

Ram’s personal assistant, Ronald Ancajas, also said that Genelyn has credit card debts which were paid by Ramon Sr.

“Malaki raw ang utang ni ma’am sa credit card niya. Nung nakaraang buwan lang. Katunayan nga ho raw binabayaran daw ni Senior. Pumunta raw sila sa mansion,” Ronald said.

Conflict with other people

Genelyn also posted in Facebook about her conflicts with other people, in addition to her money problems.

On October 9, she wrote: “I pray for our finances, they are pushing us to the limit, im trying to cope, my children are the ones holding our allowance, im the one always making abono, they cut off our allowance but they’re the ones living luxurious living, they have luxurious cars and houses. May the Lord intercede.”

On the day she wrote that she didn’t want to become a parasite, the rest of her status update read: “God is my witness, election is coming again then you will publicized that you love all your siblings ,God knows what to do ,You want to be the president of the Philippines ,it's up to the Lord.you are rich now but like lazarus whos getting the crumbs under the table of the rich man is contented already but when they both died ,lazarus is with abraham, the rich man is in the hades the place of discipline, goodluck!!!”

Said Parañaque police chief Beltran regarding Genelyn’s purported debts, “This says something about motive rin. I feel this is material doon sa on-going investigation,”

He added that Genelyn is not considered a suspect, but added, “Hindi pa po namin niru-rule-out. Ang sinasabi po lamang namin 'yong ebidensya ay doon pa lamang sa patungkol sa dalawa (Ramona and Ramon Joseph).”

Ramona previously implicated Ronald, who denied Ramona’s allegations. He said that the siblings had conflicts over money as Ram was the one handling their family budget.

"Ang alam ko ay matagal ng may tampuhan sila tungkol sa budget ng bahay dahil si boss Ramgen ang humahawak at sinisiraan daw sila sa Daddy nila at mga ilang buwan din silang hindi nagkikibuan," Ronald said.
